Ali Velshi's "Small Acts of Courage" Fails to Make a Big Impact
Small Acts of Courage Got Small Books Sales
MSNBC host Ali Velshi's latest book, "Small Acts of Courage: A Legacy of Endurance and the Fight for Democracy," has failed to make a significant impact on the literary world, according to recent reports.
Published on May 7, 2024, by St. Martin's Press, the book tells Velshi's family's immigration story, which spans from India to South Africa, Kenya, Canada, and the United States. Velshi, pictured above at the exact moment he got the idea for the book, also discusses his family's legacy of fighting for democracy and freedom.
Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the book has failed to gain traction among readers. According to Nielsen BookScan, "Small Acts of Courage" has sold only 2,500 copies in its first month of release.
This is a significant drop from Velshi's previous book, "The Trump Indictments," which sold over 100,000 copies in its first month.
Some industry insiders speculate that the book's poor performance may be due to its heavy political focus and lack of mass appeal.
"Velshi is a respected journalist and news anchor, but his book may have been too niche for a general audience," said one insider who wished to remain anonymous.
Others point to the crowded book market and the challenges of promoting a book in the current media landscape.
"There are so many books being published every day, and it's hard to stand out from the crowd," said another insider. "Velshi's book may have been overshadowed by other titles."
Despite the disappointing sales, Velshi remains optimistic about the book's impact.
"I'm proud of 'Small Acts of Courage' and the important story it tells," Velshi said in a statement. "I hope it will inspire readers to fight for democracy and freedom in their own lives."
As for the future, Velshi has not announced any plans for a new book. However, he continues to host his show on MSNBC and is a frequent contributor to various news programs.
